PATERNITY FRAUD

In 2002, A2374 http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2002/Bills/A2500/2374_R2.PDFwas introduced by then Assemblymen Anthony Impreveduto (D-32) and Neil M Cohen(D-20). This bill amended and supplemented the “New Jersey Parentage Act,” establishing new procedures concerning blood or genetic testing.

In plain English this bill would have and could prevent hard working men from being financially liable to provide for a child or children that are not biologically his. Do you know of anybody that could be in such a situation?
It is real and unfair. It is not aimed at coming between a man and his children, but to exonerate those who probably aren’t even allowed to see the children that by law, he is being made to provide for. There are some, who don’t care, but then there are those who actually have children that they are unable to properly care for because they are being made to take care of children that are not his because some promiscuous woman, wasn’t woman enough to admit that the child or children were not his.

Men actually go to jail because of back child support (Read: Childless man freed after serving time for child support violation. http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/07/15/georgia.child.support/) . Driver’s licenses can be suspended. These are just a few things that can prevent a man from either getting back and forth to work, or even obtaining gainful employment (buses and trains only go but so far).
Some may say, “What about the children?” Me too, what about the children? God forbid, later in life they get sick or need some type of transfusion that the mother cannot give, only the father, and to find out at that given moment, in a lift threatening moment, that the man who thought all along that he was the father, is not the biological father of that child.

We as a society is adamant about making Deadbeat Dad’s stand up and provide for their children, financially or emotionally. But what about the women who conceived these children, either from an affair, or by knowingly claiming another man has fathered another man’s child. These women should also be held accountable.

If a man feels in his heart, not by what other people tell him, but within his heart that he is not the father of a child, he should have every right to request a DNA test that is not linked to the child support department that is handling his case. If it is proven that he is not the biological father, then he should have the opportunity to decide if he wants to continue paying child support or to have it terminated.

Paternity Fraud can prevent a man from supporting his own children and family, or delay his decision to get married or even to have children of his own. (http://www.paternityfraud.com/)
Let me know your insight.

Do you think it’s right that a woman can knowingly have another man’s baby, and make another man be held responsible for the child?
Do you think this bill should be reintroduced, voted on, and passed into law?
